Video Quality

It’s been a while since I’ve seen standard definition videos, but here we are. Their videos come in SD only, and the lack of quality really shows. They come in at 640×480, and it’s akin to watching a VHS tape compared to a Bluray when you compare this site to the best of the best in their competition. It just doesn’t hold up.

Photo Quality

Sadly, the photos are pretty poor here. At times, I can’t tell if they’re just screencaps or what, but they’re small either way. They feel very old. At best they were 1,500 x 1,125 and I even found some 640×480 photos, which I haven’t seen in action in maybe 10 years. I don’t know if there’s any hope for better quality any time soon.

Content Quantity

They have right around 100 scenes here, which isn’t much at all. They’ve been around since 2010, and if they stuck to weekly updates, they’d have at least 300+ scenes up, but that’s just not the case.

Updates

They haven’t updated in over a year at this point, though that’s not unheard of before. They seem to add a couple scenes, then disappear for 6+ months. I wouldn’t hold my breath for new material, but who knows.

Navigation & User Interface

The site doesn’t look like anything too special as the design feels pretty old. But, when you get down to it, they have some okay browsing options. Once you drill down to the Boys Extra scenes, you can also filter by a long list of tags, which was nice. The collection isn’t large enough to need much more than that.

Site Speed

This one was up and down depending on what you’re looking for. Browsing on the desktop was very fast, likely due to the older design that’s not very graphics heavy. Mobile browsing was noticeably slower. And video downloads came in sort of fast, but longer than usual.

Price / Value

Without a discount, with a pretty middle-of-the-road price point, and with not much to see, and not many updates (if at all), I’d say this one is not the best value in the world unfortunately.

Pros

• Some bonus network access included
• Navigation and browsing options aren’t bad

Cons   

• Quality is bad all around here, photos and videos are tiny
• No updates in over a year
• Small collection
• Design is pretty plain

Final Recommendation   

Boy Extra just feels very behind the times, and I definitely didn’t feel anything extra offered. Their collection is pretty small, and their updates are basically non-existent. On top of that, the content they do have feels very old and doesn’t even come in HD. So there’s a lot holding them back.

I suppose some people might like the twink gay content here, or the guys, but I feel like it’s porn you could find on other sites that are more active as well. So check the tour and see if you just love their previews as that’s the only real way this one is worth it.

Boy Extra just feels like a site you might see in 2010, which is when they started, and they never got off the ground with any upgrades or changes. Sure, new content was added, but there’s not even that much of that going on. There are just better options out there I’d say with better quality, and more content and updates.
